People have manifold views about whether university students should be given the chance to choose which subjects to study by themselves. While compelling them to learn courses connected to science and technology could sometimes be useful in real life, I believe that it is better to give those students the right to make decisions.
People advocate for assigning certain lessons to university students due to sundry reasons among which is that those graduates tend to earn higher income thereafter, which surely will offer them better quality life and then could meet their family needs. Secondly, by studying those science courses, students would then have the ability to develop better service in society, such as hospitals achieving higher standards of healing, and schools could have better teaching levels. Finally, through mastering those science curriculums, people may work more efficiently and even eliminate the limitation of regions. For example, we can work from home in a modern society now and study on line has also become normal.
My view is that almost all students reach their adulthood then enter into the college, and it is time to let them take the responsibility regarding to their own decisions, including the significant choice of which subject to take. This chance is also likely to make them work harder on study since they might be passionate on what they decided. Comparing with science and technology courses, art and literature subjects are also crucial. Statues, galleries and literature output are examples to our daily life.
In conclusion, I can understand why people might want to encourage certain subjects for university students, but it seems to me that an open attitude in current system is much more desirable in adult life.
