The chart represents how plastic bottles are recycled and reused. In brief, it is a circular process which has three main stages, including nine steps of collection, sorting, processing and transferring it to final products.
The first stage starts with the consumer. Individuals put their waste into customized recycling bins, which are then collected and loaded into special trucks. After being transported to a recycling center, the bottles are sorted by hand. In the second stage, the bottle is first crushed into blocks and then crushed into smaller pieces using a rotating machine. The small pieces are washed before final producing.
The final stage is the reproducing usable materials into products used. The washed pieces are shaped by a special machine and then plastic pellets are heated to form raw materials. These raw materials are packaged and can then be used to make a large variety of products, from apparent products such as bottles and containers to opaque products like clothes and pencils.
Furthermore, the products themselves are recyclable again. It means the process can be repeated.
The diagram shows the process of recycling used bottles into new products.
First off, used bottles are thrown into trash cans by users. They are then collected by the garbage truck and transported to the recycling center. At the recycling center, they are sorted by workers and compressed into a huge block. At the fifth stage, they are crushed and then washed. The washed pellets are then put in a special machine that heats them to form raw material. The raw material is packed and taken to produce new products like shirts, bottles, containers, pencils and bags.
The process is then repeated after the new products are used and dumped into the trash can by users.
