SAMPLE ANSWER AS WRITTEN BY THE TEST TAKER.
It is frequently debated whether the Internet can provide people with more useful information or not. There is a voice that the online information actually benefits people owing to the convenience, high speed and low cost. Nevertheless, this statement overestimates the benefits it brings while ignoring the potential negative consequences and bad effects it might cause. As far as I am concerned, the access to so much information brings more problems than benefits.
First off, the online information often lacks dependable verification. People who like reading scientific books may know that a forceful book needs dependable prove, logical structure and inference, whose authors are usually experts in one field. As to the online information, however, most of it contains no provements and logic. It may just present a statement and we may never know whether it is really true or not. Sometimes, it contains some provements and logical inference, but it fact basis may be totally wrong or it is not self-explanatory. Some people may argue that people can verify this kind of information on their own. However, the fact is that many people have limited time and energy so they won't care about the authenticity of online information.
In addition, the online information may presented in a narrow way. This statement may seem ridiculous since people can search information about almost everything they want to know. However, I need to mention that many people tend to get information through video channels, online communities or some other ways. The companies of these websites have formed a strategy to make profits: that is they will adjust the information people can view depend on their need, love and inclination. In which case, a person's sight will be narrowed and he may lose the channce to see other opinions and view things from a new viewpoint. For instance, if a man likes meat and watch many meat cooking videos. Next time, his website may be filled with the meat-related information and he may lose the channce to know other dishes he may also be interested in.
Finally, the online information may be provocative, especially the comments to the social problems. Nowadays, with the Internet, we can know many occurrences nationwide and share opinions with others throughout the Internet. It may seem like a wonderful thing. However, the fact is that many people like to send some provocative or subjective comments when viewing the articles about social problems or unfair matters. I admit that people need a method to release their mental pressure, but I disagree with this kind of behaviors since it spread out the negative feelings to other people, and what's worse, people may form a habit to deal with social events in a subjective or violent way rather than a objective and calm way. In this case, some severe confrontation may be caused between different social classes.
As was mentioned up front, I honestly believe that the online information brings much more bad effects than benefits for the reasons stated above.
