TASK RESPONSE.
It is no doubt that contemporary society has seen an increase in tourism among people as a means of being away from work or school. Sundry people love visiting places in other countries, however, even then, I deem talking to locals would be quite sufficient to learn about a place of visit.
First off, locals have been in the area for years on end and are knowledgeable about the tourist places, which means they are a great way to acquire new knowledge about the place. In many such places, tourist places are so much attached to the traditions and cultures of the people around and thus they are authority in understanding such places. A visit to Beijing is a salient example. In Beijing, the locals would give a good account of the still existing hutongs in Beijing city. These are old architectural buildings that manifest Chinese architecture, traditions and cultures. A tour guide might not necessarily understand what they stand for simply because they might not be from that place. Because the locals attach great importance to such places, they carry enormous passion in explaining what they are compared to a tour guide or watching on televisions.
Imperatively, talking to locals is free and offers one enough time to get as much information about a place as possible. Tour guides are paid exorbitantly, yet televisions will simply give glimpse of the places because the programs are on time. With talking to locals, one can get an exhaustive understanding of the place because there is enough time without being worried of a tour guide rushing you to another place. Locals would simply be given a small tip for the information, yet one will have as much time as possible. My visit to the YongHe Gong Lama Temple in Beijing was extremely enjoyable because I had a chance to talk to the monks in the temple. They offered an intensive yet comprehensible analysis of the temple, including when it was built, why it was build and how it impacts the area in which it is. Not only that, they explained why each and every room was decorated the way it was and the purpose it serves. Televisions and tour guides might not have an in-depth understanding of the place.
In sum, I vehemently partake talking to locals would be a better way of understanding a place than visiting museums, watching televisions or having a tour guide, as they are free, have clear knowledge of the place and will offer enough time.
