Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? “Overall, the widespread use of the internet has a mostly positive effect on life in today’s world.” Use reasons and details to support your opinion.

TASK RESPONSE.
It has become a general notion that technology, especially the internet, has had a toll on people’s lives in contemporary society. Though it might seem quite a negative trend, I do partake the internet has numerous positives for people and communities.
The use of internet has bridged the gap between people, creating communities all around the world for cultural exchange, education or even news. Communities can now learn of what is happening around the world and disseminate its effect on their lives. A case in point is the Russia-Ukraine war that has impacted communities the world over. In some countries, the internet has helped expose poor leadership among politicians and community leaders. The Assange case became so popular because he blew up the details of the government and their effect to the people. In this case, the internet helps create a check point among members in leadership, and at the same time, offering masses with the best information to make judgement. The information disseminated on the internet comes faster than any other news outlet. With any electronic gadget, one can access information from anywhere in the world so long as there is an internet connection.
Education is one salient advantage of the internet today, as students can now access tutors from all over the world at home and at a minimal fee compared to attending school physically. It is an undeniable fact that the internet replaced teachers during the covid pandemic, and today, many schools have never looked back when it comes to online teaching. Students in various countries managed to have lectures from home with their tutors miles away. It is an easy, fast and less exhaustive way of communication between teachers and students. Even so, it is filled with hordes of educational information from authorities in various fields, easing research among students. Peer reviewed papers are published on various sites. There are also sites that help in teaching and correction of information. For example, Grammarly, a grammar tool is one vital site that has helped enhance language practice.
I do admit there are some shortfalls, for example, the wide sources of information, some lacking credibility, and the fact that some sites are actually not suitable, especially for youngsters as they might exhibit pornography or violence. There is also a case of being distracted by other information that keeps popping up during research, which might slow down the speed of working or reading.
I so conclude, the advantages of the internet, offering educative information, instant news and being able to be used anywhere, are quite massive compared to the unreliable or bad information on some sites.
