TASK RESPONSE.
Whether boys and girls should be educated in the same or separate schools has always been a hot debate among people. It is probable that studying in separate schools can have some advantages however, given the fact that society is a mixed entity of men and women, it is advisable that boys and girls study in the same schools.
One of the main advantages accorded to studying in separate schools is that learners will focus more on studying. In many schools, especially secondary and university, learners tend to be distracted by the opposite sex and eventually love affairs ensue, disrupting their study life. In some cases, girls in single girls’ schools study better because they are not shy when it comes to their biological body changes like it happens in mixed schools. In a single school of girls, a girl will not feel awkward when she experiences her first menstruation periods like it can be when in a mixed school. In this way, it cannot affect her study performance like it would if in a mixed school where she will feel shy and out of place among boys. There are feminine issues that would be hard for teachers to teach girls in a mixed school but would be easier in a single school. Such pertain to personal feminine hygiene.
That said, education institutions are mini societies, girls and boys learning in the same school would offer them a better chance of understanding the importance co-existence in society. Students will learn how to relate with the opposite sex and thus will not have difficulty in the society relating with others. A boy who studies with girls will understand how important it is to treat the female sex in a respectful manner. Also, it should be noted that boys can be better in specific subjects and girls in others. In this way, it is possible that they can learn from each other when they study together. For example, it is believed boys are better at science subjects, if girls study with them, they can borrow a leaf in one way of another.
To sum, focusing on studies is the main viewpoint to advocate for single sex schools however, if boys and girls study together, they learn how to co-exist in society, and can even learn from each other in various subjects.
