The main body.

Even after understanding what to present in the main body, many test takers find it hard to start a main body paragraph. Usually, it is better to start with words or phrases that introduce the view of discussion well. The first sentence of the main body paragraph is called a topic sentence because it carries the view of discussion. The second sentence explains the view and then an example given if any. Look at the paragraph of the same topic below.

First main body paragraph.

Shopping online is very convenient and easy for customers as it is done at any place and time. Looking for a commodity on line and making an order is easier. Because the stores do not pay heftily for employees and space, goods are at a lower price. It makes customers save quite a lot, not only because the goods are cheaper, but even the fact that they are delivered right at one's door. It thus helps customers save money on goods bought.

Second main body paragraph.

That said, at times goods displayed are actually different from goods delivered. The fact that stores are usually not known physically by customers, complaining is a myth and thus a client might waste money on a useless item because of the difference between what is displayed and what is actually delivered. It not only suffocates a client's ability to bargain, but also bars the opportunity to try and test an item. At times the delivery of service is delayed. Goods are delivered during working hours and if a person used the home address, linking up with the delivery service would be an issue.

Note that the second main body paragraph presents the other side of online shopping. It follows the same pattern as the first main body paragraph. Also note how the paragraphs are started, especially the second main body paragraph. The link words show that what is going to be discussed is different from what has been discussed in the preceding paragraph. There are many link words of phrases that can be used, for example, ‘’that said’’, suffice to note’’, on the other hand’’, ‘’however’’, nevertheless’’. However, the first main body paragraph can be started in a different way. For example, ‘’In my view’’, Imperatively, I believe’’, I am of the view’’ ‘’In my opinion’’ etc.

The main body is important because it is where you show your understanding of the topic, by making a good explanation of the views and convincing the reader that what you have presented is right in relation to the topic requirements.
