Often time test takers find it hard to define the topic of even getting to understand what the topic is all about. Ideally, it is better to find out the main aspects of the topic, that is, what are the significant or important words presented in a topic? Understand them and find out what they mean. You then relate them to the topic question so as to get a clear view of what is required of you. Look at the topic below.

The influx of advanced technology has led to virtual shopping that has become a noble call for most people rather than physical shopping in malls. A horde of mega stores have gone virtual. Such a trend of shopping has created multifarious advantages though the drawbacks cannot go unnoticed too.

Note that the writer relates ‘’online shopping’’ to development of technology. This alone shows a good interpretation of the topic. The last sentence of the introduction is the thesis statement, note how the writer’s stand is stated. It prepares the reader well of what is expected in the main body.
