For non-native speakers of English, the TOEFL, or Test of English as a Foreign Language, is an extremely important exam. Many universities in English-speaking countries require students to take and pass the TOEFL in order to gain entry. Although the standardized test is not mandatory for every school in English-speaking countries, it is accepted and even required by most major universities.
