These kinds of essays offer you a situation to imagine and develop your response. The wording of the task will determine what you present, for example, a task might offer a situation and ask you whether you agree or not and why.
For example:
“Imagine that your city government has given permission for a major company to build a large factory near your neighborhood. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not? Explain your position using specific reasons and examples.”
Sometimes you are given one situation to imagine about. For example,
“Imagine that you are graduating from high school and have been offered a complete scholarship at a university that is located in another country, far from your friends and family. Would you accept this offer, or would you try to attend a university closer to home?”
The tasks are not so different from other types of tasks, the only issue is that the main task asks you to imagine a situation. The task questions will thus vary from do you agree or disagree, to what extent do you agree, is it a positive or negative etc.
This style is less common.
1- Imagine that you must make an important decision that will have a major impact on the rest of your life. You could make the decision entirely on your own, or ask someone to help you make it. Which would you choose? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.
2- It is very important for students to learn as much as possible before their graduation from university. For this reason, many schools require students to attend all of their classes in person in order to achieve a passing grade. Do you agree or disagree with this kind of policy? Use specific reasons and examples to support your argument.
3- Consider a situation where you are required to learn a challenging new skill. You could learn this skill from someone above you, like a boss or supervisor. Or you could be taught the skills by someone at your own level, like a classmate or colleague. Which would you prefer?
SAMPLE TASK AND RESPONSE.

Making a choice, especially one that can impact life forever is not quite an easy task as there are many issues to consider. Usually some people, being a personal choice, would decide to embrace decision making by themselves however, it is quite pertinent that one asks for help from people they deem useful in regard to the choice to be made.
First off, seeking advise from someone can give one a different dimension of the choice to be made. This can be true especially with people who have gone through the same situation and are in the same position because of the same choice as yours they made. Asking for advice from people in the same situation helps make a better judgment of oneself about the choice to be made. A life long choice should not be made hurriedly as it will impact one’s life forever. When someone offers advice, it is easy to weigh the pros and cons of the choice and thus help make a better decision of whether to take it on or not. A student who wants to become an engineer will be better of asking about the challenges of being an engineer from those already in the field.
Importantly, asking about the choice from someone will help you have a poll of other choices you might not have thought of. It is not always that the people one asks about something will be in agreement with what they are asked about. In this case, some might offer different choices and will support them with ample evidence in comparison to the choice one intends to make. In this way, it is easy to weight the choice intended and the different choices given by other people. It is common for a person to have one choice in life because they never look at the other side of the coin. However, when introduce different choices and back them with good and convincing evidence, it is probable that a person will change their stance and take on a new choice.
In all, the it is a personal decision that would affect one’s life, I deem asking people, especially those in the same profession, for advice would suffice as it offers a different dimension of the choice to be made and other choices that might be better in life.
