TASK RESPONSE.
Dear Pat,
I was over-joyed to receive your letter and glad to hear that you and your family are doing great. That said, in your letter, you specifically asked for my opinion in regard to your future plans. I think it is possible to go to college and have a part-time job too.
First off, in the contemporary job market, companies are interested to hire young people with experience. So because these days colleges are not full time study, you can still get a part-time job to acquire experience. Some companies will hire you whether you earned your degree from a regular college or via distance education. You thus do not have to attend college on a regular basis. In any case, with the sundry online colleges, it is very possible to study and work at the same time.
I think you should consider a part-time job that aligns with what you are studying. After three years, you will have earned some valuable working experience, yet at the same time can push for higher education in the same field.
There are jobs that do not require immediate qualifications but experience can be acquired on-the-job, for example, auto-mechanics. As you study automobile mechanics, you at the same time gain experience.
Wish you all the best for your future.
Regards,
Karl
