What is a Topic Sentence?
A topic sentence is the first sentence of a main body paragraph that captures the essence of your paragraph. It introduces the reader to the topic or main point that is to be discussed and explained in that paragraph, setting the tone for the rest of the paragraph.
The examiner should be able to read the topic sentence, and immediately know what the rest of the paragraph will be about. This means the view to be discussed must clearly be stated.
