TEST TAKER'S RESPONSE.
The line gragh compares the number of items transported by different means in Britain over a period of 28 years.
It is clear that road was by far the most used transporting mode among the four options in the UK over the given period, while pipeline was reported the lowest. All of the transports shown an increase tendency from 1974 to 2002.
In 1974, road was the main source of transport in the UK, contributing around 70 million tonnes of delivery. Water and railway provided just about 40 million tonnes of shipment each, and pipeline offered a negligible amount. In the following seven years, both water and pipeline saw a considerable growth in shipping productions.
Delivery by road saw fluctuations but rose dramatically to a peak of roughly 100 million tonnes as the highest contribution among all the four methods in 2002, while rail witnessed a wave to almost the same level as it was in 1974, at around 40 million tonnes. Water experienced a relatively long stable period till 1988, rose considerably to 65 million of tonnes by 1974. By contrast, transporting by pipeline was the only one that continued increasing, though kept the lowest amount on goods shipping.
