The table presents data on consumer spending on various items in five different countries in the year 2002.
Overall, it can be seen that food, drinks and tobacco were the most significant expense for all countries, while leisure and education were the least significant expenditure.
Among the five countries, Ireland and Turkey spent the most on food, drinks and tobacco, with Turkey spending the highest proportion, 32.14%, followed by Ireland 29.03%. Suffice to note, Sweden had the minutest expenditure in this category, expending 15.77%. Italy had a soaring expenditure on clothing and footwear, allocating 9% of its total costs, just a little towering Turkey, Spain and Ireland which spent 6.63%, 6.51% and 6.43% discretely. Leisure and education costs were relatively homogeneous among the five countries, ranging from 1.98% to 4.35%. Turkey had an exorbitant expenditure in this category, accounting for 4.35% compared to Ireland and Spain which had the tiniest, at 2.21% and 1.98% respectively .
