Time: 4-5 minutes
A brief introduction is given before part 1 starts. The examiner introduces him/herself. You will need to tell the examiner your name and show your identification such as a passport or ID card.
The examiner will ask you general questions about yourself.
Some common topics are about your home, family, job, studies, interests, and a range of similar familiar topic areas.
The examiner chooses three topic areas and you'll have about four questions on each. So you'll have around 10-14 questions, depending on how long you speak for on each.
Here is an example:
Let’s talk about your home town or village:
1. what kind of place is it?
2. what’s the most interesting part of your town/village?
3. what kind of jobs do the people in your town/village do?
4. would you say it’s a good place to live? (why?)
5. Let’s move on to talk about accommodation:
6. tell me about the kind of accommodation you live in?
7. how long have you lived there?
8. what do you like about living there?
9. what sort of accommodation would you most like to live in?
